About KarDo

Elite level sports are an expensive proposition. Access to quality coaching and training facilities is unequal, especially forthose who come from low-income communities. From sporting gear to accessories, access to quality training and coaches to cost of participation – competing at an elite level in sports is accessible only for a select few who can afford it. Finances and support almost remain as important a criterion as talent or potential.

For every athlete who has come from an underprivileged background and achieved sporting success, there are hundreds who could not make the cut. Not for lack of talent or dedication. But simply for the lack of economical/social backing that is critical for every athlete who competes at elite level

Kar Do Foundation was set up with the vision of helping underprivileged athletes and sportspersons fulfil their talent and potential – irrespective of the economical, physical, social, cultural, or geographical challenges life throws at them

Daniel S Farid

About Daniel

Daniel started playing badminton when he was 9. In 6 months, the game turned from a leisure into passion for him. At the age of 14 Daniel became the Karnataka Under-15 state champion. In the same year he was chosen to represent India at the Sub-Junior Asian Championship in Chiba, Japan. After 7 rounds of wins which took him to the semi-finals, he lost in the semi-finals and returned with a bronze for the country.

In 2016, he became the No. 1 ranked player in India and also won the “Best Sportsman” award from Karnataka Olympic Association in 2017.

Between 2011 – 2017, Daniel won the Bronze medals at International events across:

Under 15 Asian Badminton Championships.
Under 17 Asian Badminton Championships.
Polish International Tournament.

Between 2016 – 2020, Daniel also won 2 Golds, 3 Silvers and 1 Bronze at National Badminton Ranking Tournaments.

Daniel starts his day at 330 am and ends at 9 pm which includes various fitness, agility sessions and speed drills apart from game practice. He practices at Karnataka Badminton Association. Daniel also supports his family financially by taking coaching classes for emerging players on weekends. Daniel’s dream is to represent India at 2024 Olympics and win a medal for the country.
